Once we have received your completed booking form, we will issue you an invoice for the booking hire, plus the security deposit of £200 which will be required for party hire. The hire invoice needs to be paid immediately, by way of BACS transfer, or cheque payment to secure your booking and the security deposit needs to be paid a minimum 2 weeks ahead of the booking. Should you subsequently need to cancel your booking, the Booking Secretary will arrange for your full payment, or a proportion of your payment to be returned subject to our CANCELLATION POLICY. If you do not comply with the terms and conditions of your booking- for example, the hall is not left in a clean state, you lose the keys, we receive noise complaints then we reserve the right to retain some, or all of your security deposit .

PRICING: it is important that you understand our pricing policy when enquiring about your booking to avoid issues or embarrassment later. We offer 2 booking prices – “Individuals, Clubs and Societies” and “Commercial”. Here is our ratecard, and the definition of our groups, and if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us for advice.

Individuals, Clubs and Societies: If you are not charging admission, or giving the profit or surplus from your admission to charity, you are a charity, or to re-invest in your community club or society, then you will pay this rate. Commercial: Applies to all other bookings. This can include music teaching, conferences, training, and sales and will usually (but not exclusively) involve paid staff. Furthermore, if you are a commercial hirer you will not be insured by our hirer insurance and therefore you will be required to provide a copy of your public liability insurance policy.

Some other things you need to know: Music: All music must have stopped by 11pm. There is a sound monitoring system and we will withhold deposits if this is breached. Teen parties: Sorry, but please note that our Licence does not allow us to host teen, 20th or 21st Birthday parties. Adastra Hall is a popular community space run by volunteers on a not for profit basis, for the benefit of the community of Hassocks and surrounding areas. The committee reserve the right to reject booking requests without providing a reason for doing so. Alcohol sales: the sale of alcohol is restricted in law and therefore hirers who intend to sell alcohol need to notify us of this at the time of booking, on the booking form. Alcohol can only be sold on the premises, until 10.30pm and you MUST apply for a Temporary Event Notice to cover any alcohol sales (and any other licenseable activity such as dancing or music) at the same time. You must seek our permission to apply for the TENS and we will require evidence of your TENS before we meet you with the keys!

On the day of your booking, we will meet you at the Hall to hand over the keys and run through the practicalities of the hire. The security deposit will be returned to you within 14 days of the hire.

PLEASE NOTE all hire contracts are made subject to our HIRE AGREEMENT, a copy of which can be downloaded below. For private hire, and not-for-profit events, you are covered for certain activities by our own INSURANCE policy, a copy of which is on this page. It is your responsibility to ensure that your event is adequately covered by insurance and Commercial hire events need to provide us a copy of their insurance policy.
